Crossrail 2 consultation closes this week

There's still time to respond to the Crossrail 2 consultation!

Crossrail 2 would mean a new north east to south west rail line. In 2013 Transport for London (TfL) and Network Rail consulted residents across the route on proposals for metro and regional route options.

Nearly 14,000 responses were received and over 96 per cent of respondents supported the need for Crossrail 2 and over 80 per cent of these supported the regional option.

Read full details including the consultation report and the response to issues raised for the 2013

TfL are now consulting again as they want to explore specific route options in more detail.
  • two route alignment options north of Angel serving Hackney or Dalston Junction;
  • an alternative option for a possible new station in Chelsea; and
  • a short extension of the route from Alexandra Palace to New Southgate.
It is important to respond as the latest proposals reduce the number of Crossrail stations in Hackney. The consultation is proposing only one station for Hackney, and we believe that the case needs to be made for two - at both Dalston Junction and Hackney Central.

The full consultation is online here and is open until 25th July.

Hackney Council response to Channel 4 Dispatches programme

Some of you have been in contact with us following the Channel 4 Dispatches programme last week which featured unregistered Charedi yeshiva schools in Hackney.

The Council issued a statement after the programme outlining how the Council works with Ofsted and the Department for Education to engage with these schools to try to ensure they provide the education and care to which all children have the right.

You can read the full statement here.
