Wilmer Place update

As you are no doubt aware, the latest application for Wilmer Place is due to be heard at the planning committee meeting on 11th December.

We are disappointed that the developer submitted yet another application for the Wilmer Place site. This was identical to the previous application and we made a representation highlighting our ongoing concerns about the impact on Abney Park, the low level of affordable housing and the sensitivities of the site for a building this size remain.

We feel that the decision to submit an identical application is intended to make the judicial review that has been lodged by Stokey Local (on the second application that was approved at July's planning committee) redundant. We are frustrated with the developer's determination to push through this application when the local community have highlighted so clearly what the issues are.

We have been working alongside the Stokey Local resident campaign and will continue to do so. We share their concerns about the position that the Planning Committee has been put in.

When this third application comes to Planning Committee in December, as local councillors, we will again oppose this vigorously as we have done before and use our right to speak at the committee hearing - focussing on the planning issues, and the grounds that led to the judicial review being lodged.

Please do get in touch if you have any questions.
