Consultation on more cycle stands for Garnham Street
Hackney Council is committed to promoting cycling as an alternative to private car use. The number of cyclists in Hackney continues to grow at a significant rate and we regularly receive requests from residents and businesses across the borough asking for more secure cycle parking stands.
We have received a number of requests for more cycle parking in and around the Stoke Newington area. Opportunities to install footway cycle parking facilities in this area are limited due to the narrow pavements and high pedestrian flows. A proposal has therefore been developed to introduce carriageway (on-street) cycle parking facilities in Garnham Street.
This would involve installing eight 8 cycle stands, providing capacity for 16 cycles to be parked, between two protective islands in Garnham Street.
The consultation documents are online here and you can have your say on the proposed scheme up until 9th December.
