As we've previously reported, Groundwork held consultation with local residents and have drawn up a suggested plan for Kynaston Gardens. This was discussed at a local meeting at the Old Fire Station last week and a group of residents have now formed a user group to finalise the designs, and start applying for funding. If you are interested in joining the user group, please email the Parks Development Officer: Eleanor.firstname.lastname@example.org
At the meeting, we picked up a number of issues around the maintenance of the Gardens in the interim, the ongoing street drinking and the problems with cyclists along the Avenue.
In response to these, we’ve asked for parks maintenance to help clear the Gardens and the local police are also looking into whether Community Payback volunteers could be involved. We’ve chased the Council about improving the signage telling cyclists to dismount, and have confirmation that these signs will now be put in.
The controlled drinking area has just been introduced which means the local police can confiscate alcohol, but residents felt that a complete ban would be more effective – we’ve asked whether this could be implemented in the Gardens. We will continue to work with residents, the Council, and the police to resolve these issues.
