The Sustainable Stoke Newington Pledge

You may have noticed posters going up in shop windows and flyers on counters about the Sustainable Stoke Newington Pledge.

We’ve launched a campaign to support local businesses in Stoke Newington.
Local residents tell us all the time that the main thing they value about Stoke Newington is its independence and individuality. One of the other main priorities locally is playing a part in making our area more sustainable and doing our bit to cut carbon emissions.

The Sustainable Stoke Newington Pledge brings together these two key interests and we’re asking:
  • Local businesses to pledge to take steps to cut their carbon emissions by 10%
  • Local residents to pledge to shift 10% more of their spending locally each month
30 businesses in Stoke Newington signed up straight away and we will be launching a newsletter next month to share tips and ideas on cutting carbon emissions and news from local businesses.

We wanted to do something practical, bringing together shops and residents so that we can all play a part in making our area more sustainable.
