Improving Church Street

As local residents are aware, there are works currently taking place on Church Street to improve the whole street. A 20mph speed limit is being introduced, new pavements and a new road surface are being laid, and improvements are being made at the junctions with side roads.

A major part of the scheme involves removing street clutter. As the statistics below show, there is a radical 'de-cluttering' approach for Church Street:
  • 51 bollards are being removed
  • 24m (86%) of guard railing is being removed
  • 35 sign posts (63%) are being removed
  • 27 signs (42%) are being removed
  • 8 additional street trees are being planted
  • 11 additional cycle stands are being installed
This will make a big impact on Church Street. The works will take three months to complete, and we are aware of the disruption this causes to businesses and local residents. If you see any issues or problems whilst the works are going on, please do not hesitate to contact us.
