Good news for residents on Victorian Grove who have been campaigning against the licensing application for 35-39 Stoke Newington High Street (which would have involved late night opening on a residential street) - the application was overturned at the licensing committee hearing at the Town Hall last night. Cllr Rita Krishna has been working closely with residents and spoke at the hearing on their behalf.
Following on from the meeting between Dynevor Road residents at the management at the Rochester Castle on Wednesday, a number of action points were agreed and a follow up meeting will be arranged for September to see whether things have improved. Amongst the measures agreed were: putting up signs in the garden to warn customers that they are near people's houses; securing the fire exit properly so people can't get in and out of Kynaston Gardens; moving the bins off Kynaston Avenue and looking into installing a gate to close off access to the back of the pub. We'll keep you posted on progress - but this is a positive step towards addressing residents' concerns and also in our campaign to improve Kynaston Gardens.
