The Big Lunch - 19th July

As a result of Good Neighbours' day yesterday, a group of residents on Farleigh Road are organising a Big Lunch on Sunday 19th July.

The Big Lunch is a national initiative which aims to get people sitting down and having lunch together on 19th July - encouraging neighbours to get to know each other and 'put a smile on Britain's face'.

At the meeting last night, we commented that people recognise each other on the street, but don't necessarily know each other - and the Big Lunch is about breaking down that barrier.

If any other streets in Stoke Newington are thinking of planning a Big Lunch event, do let us know.

The next meeting for Farleigh Road is 8th June at 8pm in Metolino Cafe.

  1. Saw you are holding a Big Lunch and thought you might be interested in a competition we’re running ahead of the day itself. I am from Raindance, the organisation that promotes independent film and runs the Raindance Film Festival -- we’re inviting people to make a film about the Big Lunch and offering two £1000 prizes for the best. There’s still time to enter the competition if it’s of interest. Full details are at http://raindance.tv/thebiglunch

  2. Due to unprecedented demand to enter The Big Lunch Short Film Competition, some filmmakers have been requesting a bit more time to complete their films. We’re pleased to announce that we can extend the competition deadline until midnight Sunday 5 July. Competition details at http://raindance.tv/thebiglunch
